Praise for God of Blades:

“Cripes. So many reasons to like this. The pulpy sci fi narrative, the prog rock lettering and album art backdrops, the spectral swordsmen and the fearsome sense of connection. God of Blades is pretty much glorious, basically.” - Christian Donlan, Hookshot Inc.

“...we were reminded of Shadow of the Beast for some reason – probably because of the music and the setting... that’s a very good thing.”- Chris Priestman, IndieGameMag

“The White Whale Games crew has gone above and beyond demonstrating their devotion to stories and literature, and [Loreseeker] is one of the most creative and brilliant ways they could have possibly conceived to get people to go to those incredible repositories of human knowledge known as libraries.” - Brad Hilderbrand, Gamezebo

“With their upcoming title God of Blades, the small indie developer has created an intriguing mashup of iOS genres.” - A.T. Faust III, AppAdvice.com

“God of Blades is dripping with style” - Jim Squires, Gamezebo

Pros and cons of God of Blades app for iPhone and iPad

God of Blades app good for

If you appreciate amazing art and fantasy novels you will most certainly be sucked into this game. The different swords you can unlock, the variety of attacks possible, and the importance of timing make it fun to kill the different enemy types. I found that the different enemies do respond to some moves better than others, but it could be a bit too subtle to figure this out if you are sitting in the subway on your way to work or something. I dont understand any of the negative reviews of this game--- there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to work a literate, cultish, prog-rock theme into what is actually a pretty simple auto-scrolling hack and slash iOS game. It is what it is, and you will either love it for its artistic Lovecraftiness or you wont get the point because you are a gameplay purist. I thought it was unique and pretty great.
This is a 10/10 game, visuals, sounds, gameplay. Everything about this game is excellent. I own a plethora of iOS games and this truly puts an original feel and a fresh look on side scroll gaming. If your a fan of simple, beautiful looking visuals, this game is for you....excellent work game devs!!!! This is award worthy in my opinion
I really really enjoyed playing this game. The gesture controls are awesome and storyline is brilliant. Love how each sword performs differently by weight. Felt a bit short though. Overall excellent.
The games ambiance is superb. From the graphics to the audio, the styling creates a wonderful, retro mood reminiscent of the first Vampire Hunter D movie. The controls work great and the writing and story are truly excellent. However, it lacks depth, which would have made it truly astounding. The weapons dont differ greatly enough. The 3 classes seems a somewhat cheap way of giving them some disparity, but its just not enough. The fast weapons lack power while the heavy ones lack speed. Rounded out by a balanced series. Thats all you get. Each having their own unique ability is great but they need more. Once you get them all, then it becomes repetitive and quite 2-dimensional. Leveling weapons, acquiring unique armor or items, even accumulating bonuses to beef up the king, or perhaps character leveling would have turned this from an emotional quickie into a sensual all-nighter. Essentially it needs to get the user to work towards something. Timing attacks on enemies delivered by the interval just isnt enough. A great game that just falls a little short. And for what its worth, I cannot connect to loreseeker, to which I actually have no idea what it does. All I know is Ive given up my location to these guys for nothing.
At first when I saw the reviews I was against buying God of Blades. But then I said screw it and bought it any way. Ive had it for 2 days and have been playing it non stop. The different swords with each one of their special ability. Whisper is the best sword in my opinion the real time physics being able to cut through swords and use the enemys bodys against them. All in all one of my favorite games ever and its worth more then .99$
At first glance, this game could easily be confused for just another side-scrolling runner. But truth is, theres really nothing quite like God of Blades out there. By far the best part of the game is its creepy presentation. The game has this powerful atmosphere and style to it that I think people will either cringe with disgust or absolutely adore. Personally, I love it and highly recommend the game for that alone. The game itself is alright, and can be described as is a semi-twitch based runner when boiled down to the fundamentals.

Some bad moments

Not worth paying for gameplay this dull and repetitive. The art was gaudy, the writing was painfully generic cliches, and the whole experience was just awful.
This game is rated far too high. Its a 3.5 at best. Its difficulty varies randomly. There wasnt a natural ramping up so now Im on the last boss and I dont think Ill ever beat it. The story is also very convoluted. Told through poetry and irrelevant images.
Maybe I was just missing Infinity Blade and thought this would be a good substitute. But this game is no where near the quality of any decent game. There menus dont immediately make sense, the graphics are mediocre, the gameplay is mind numbing and the music sounds like something from a Commodore 64. Im not sure how this got such a high rating. Name and icon probable. Well played!
I love the art and feel of the game. The controls are perfect for iOS and the gameplay is fun. I wish there was a little more focus on the story as it actually seems pretty interesting. The thing I am most happy about is no in app purchases. THANK YOU! I hate apps that do that. It ruins the game
ive never taken the time to make a review but this one... couldnt be better!! absolutely amazing!!!
I would give this game a five but there is not a lot of ways to get new swords especially if the lore seeker does not work, I left it on searching it for 30 minutes and it did not work. If you fix those. Then I would give it a five.
